Best Yanagi Build Guide

Written by Phạm Ngọc Bảo Châu ·

Playstyle Overview

Yanagi is an Electric Anomaly DPS whose damage comes almost entirely from Disorder. Besides regular Disorders, she creates Polarity Disorder herself with EX Special Attack: Gekka Ruten and Ultimate: Raiei Tenge, dealing a share of the original Disorder damage without removing the Anomaly. Her Core Passive Lunar Eclipse greatly raises the squad's Disorder multiplier after her EX Special Attack.

Build Anomaly Proficiency. She builds Shock and lets a partner apply a different Anomaly; save Energy for Stun windows and fire Polarity Disorders right after an Anomaly lands. She's flexible, has lots of team options, and her free W-Engines hold up well. On the other hand, you'll be tracking many short buffs, she relies on teammates, and she's demanding to optimize.

Best W-Engines

1
TimeweaverS1
Timeweaver

ATK 713 · ATK% 30%

Her signature and best option: an ATK% main stat, +30% Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate, extra Anomaly Proficiency when Special Attacks hit Anomaly-afflicted enemies, and +25% Disorder DMG (Polarity Disorder included). S5 is about 18% stronger than S1. The Disorder bonus only applies to Yanagi herself, so the alternatives aren't far behind.
Time-Devouring Stratagem ›

The equipper's Electric Anomaly Buildup Rate increases by 30%. When Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks hit enemies suffering an Attribute Anomaly, the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency increases by 75 for 15s. When the equipper's Anomaly Proficiency is greater than or equal to 375, Disorder DMG inflicted by the equipper increases by 25%.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

2
Weeping GeminiS5
Weeping Gemini

ATK 594 · ATK% 25%

A craftable pick that comes close to the S1 signature: ATK% plus a lot of Anomaly Proficiency, which makes Polarity Disorder stronger. It lacks Anomaly Mastery, so back-to-back Disorders are harder; apply 4 Anomalies before the Stun window and unload before the enemy recovers, since that's when the stacks are lost.
Lingering Cries ›

Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipper gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30, stacking up to 4 times. This effect expires when the target recovers from Stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

3
Electro-Lip GlossS5
Electro-Lip Gloss

ATK 594 · Anomaly Proficiency 75

A passable Battle Pass option: enemies are almost always under an Anomaly, so its buff is nearly always active. However, its DMG bonus tends to be diluted and its ATK and Anomaly Proficiency fall behind Weeping Gemini, so it's usually only worth it in high-Stun teams.
Kiss of Death ›

When there are enemies inflicted with Attribute Anomaly on the field, the equipper's ATK increases by 10% and they deal an additional 15% more DMG to the target.

4
Fusion CompilerS1
Fusion Compiler

ATK 684 · PEN Ratio 24%

Its PEN Ratio secondary stat suits Yanagi well, and it adds combat ATK plus stacking Anomaly Proficiency on Special Attacks. At S3 or higher it gets close to her signature. With this W-Engine or alongside Rina, a PEN Ratio Disc 5 is preferred over Electric DMG.
Data Flood ›

Increases ATK by 12%.

When using a Special Attack or EX Special Attack, the equipper’s Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 25 for 8s, stacking up to 3 times.

The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

5
Rainforest GourmetS5
Rainforest Gourmet

ATK 594 · Anomaly Proficiency 75

A fallback option: flat Anomaly Proficiency and stacking ATK whenever Energy is spent, which fits Yanagi's frequent EX Special Attacks.
Dinner's Ready! ›

For every 10 Energy consumed, the equipper gains a buff that increases ATK by 2.5% for 10s, stacking up to 10 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

4-piece:

Fire DMG and Electric DMG increases by 15%. While off-field, EX Special Attack and Assist Attack DMG increases by 20%. When switching on-field, this buff continues for 5s, and this continuation effect can trigger once every 7.5s.

2
Freedom Blues
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

The most comfortable all-rounder, good in both Disorder and Wind teams. Yanagi swaps in and out constantly, so just use her EX Special Attack right after switching in to benefit from the lingering DMG buff. For the 2-piece, use Freedom Blues or Feathered Fate (both +30 Anomaly Proficiency); at high Mindscapes Puffer Electro is also an option.

Khi người trang bị không phải là nhân vật đang thao tác, sẽ luôn sở hữu hiệu quả buff này.

2
Chaos Jazz
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

A no-maintenance set: its Anomaly Proficiency bonus is almost always active, which suits Yanagi since her Disorders scale heavily with that stat. She doesn't get the Anomaly DMG bonus (reserved for Lumiflux Agents), but it can still be her best set in Disorder teams.

2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

4-piece:

When an EX Special Attack hits an enemy, reduce the target's Anomaly Buildup RES to the equipper's Attribute by 20% for 8s. This effect does not stack with others of the same attribute.

2
Chaos Jazz
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

Her best set in Wind teams: lowering the target's Electric Anomaly Buildup RES lets the team trigger more reactions, which is worth more than boosting Polarity Disorder, whose multiplier on Windswept is low. Her EX Special Attack costs only 40 Energy, so uptime is easy. It's weaker in regular Disorder teams.

2-piece:

Anomaly Proficiency +30

+10% Electric DMG and +28% ATK while an enemy is Shocked. It can beat Chaos Jazz on paper, but needs discs with many Anomaly Proficiency rolls and a strict rotation. Best in Yanagi hypercarry or mono-Electric teams; worse when partners like Burnice or Vivian trigger Disorders off-field and remove the Shock.

Best Main Stats

  • Disc 4Anomaly Proficiency

DEF

Anomaly Mastery
148 – 190+
Anomaly Proficiency
350 – 450+

All of Yanagi's damage scales with Anomaly Proficiency, so Disc 4 is always that stat. A PEN Ratio Disc 5 is usually best (especially with Rina) unless Nicole or Trigger is shredding DEF. An Anomaly Mastery Disc 6 helps her chain Disorders faster with her partner. Anomaly damage snapshots Yanagi's stats at the time of buildup, so build Anomaly while your buffs are active.

Skill Priority

  1. Core Skill
  2. ›Special Attack
  3. ›Chain Attack
  4. ›Basic Attack
  5. ›Assist
  6. ›Dodge

Level her Core Skill first since it boosts Disorder damage for the whole squad. Then Special Attack and Chain Attack/Ultimate, because Polarity Disorder damage scales with those two skills. Basic Attack is used a lot while she's on-field; Assist is only needed for Defensive Assist Daze, and Dodge comes last.

Best Teams for Yanagi

Most Used Teams Right Now

Yanagi's most used team in Shiyu Defense. Miyabi applies Frost Anomalies, Yanagi triggers Disorder with her EX Special Attack or Ultimate, and each Disorder gives Miyabi more Fallen Frost. Yuzuha provides strong buffs and keeps both Anomalies balanced.
Her most used team in Deadly Assault and the highest average score among her Shiyu Defense teams. Velina brings Wind Anomaly and Remielle offers valuable buffs plus solid personal damage; this is the team for 4-piece Freedom Blues.

Disorder Teams

Nangong Yu is an ideal pair: Yanagi can save resources and unload them in Stun, where Polarity Disorder hits hardest, while Nangong Yu's high Anomaly Buildup keeps Disorders bouncing back and forth.
Vivian is a Disorder partner who builds Anomaly even off-field. From M2, each extra held EX thrust consumes one of Vivian's feathers, letting you front-load her Abloom damage. Avoid Thunder Metal in this team.

Mono-Electric Team

Yanagi creates Polarity Disorder on her own, so she still works in a mono-Electric team. Seth provides shields and Anomaly Proficiency, while Rina buffs the team's PEN Ratio. Easy to play but with a low ceiling since there are no regular Disorders; it works better from M2. Qingyi or Anby can step in.

F2P Team

Anby is the only free Agent who unlocks Yanagi's Additional Ability by sharing her Electric attribute, and she provides Stun. Ben applies Burn so Yanagi can trigger Disorder; give Ben an Anomaly Mastery Disc 6.

Best Bangboo for Yanagi

Agent Gulliver is the main pick: it adds Electric Anomaly Buildup, and with two Section 6 members (such as Yanagi and Miyabi) it deals more damage to Shocked enemies and builds more Anomaly on enemies under other Anomalies. Magnetiboo and Brawlerboo are the alternatives.

In the mono-Electric team, use Plugboo (needs two Electric Agents), or Safety, Avocaboo or Electroboo.

Skills

Basic Attack: Tsukuyomi Kagura

Yanagi has two stances: Jougen and Kagen.

Press Basic to activate: Execute up to five forward slashes based on the current stance, causing Physical DMG and Electric DMG.

During combat, Yanagi gains the corresponding stance buff based on her current stance:

Jougen stance buff: Electric DMG increases by 10%. Anti-Interrupt Level increases during Basic Attacks.

Kagen stance buff: PEN Ratio increases by 10%. Interrupt Level increases for Basic Attacks.

For 8s after switching stances, Yanagi retains the bonus from the previous stance.

Mindscape Cinema

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M2 is the best place to stop if you want to invest more in Yanagi. M1 adds useful Anomaly Proficiency, but her signature W-Engine is usually the better early upgrade. M6 massively boosts Polarity Disorder. M3 and M5 only add skill levels, so they're not counted.

  • M1
Whenever the squad applies an Anomaly, Yanagi gains Clarity: +80 Anomaly Proficiency while she has at least 1 stack, and a stack is consumed for invulnerability when she's hit. A nice stat boost, though the invulnerability rarely makes a difference.
  • M2
Holding the button adds up to 2 extra thrusts to her EX Special Attack, raising the Polarity Disorder multiplier from 15% to 25% (+2.5% per extra thrust) and increasing the thrust's Anomaly Buildup. It can change her burst from 3 EX Special Attacks to 2 held ones.
  • M4
Enemies hit by Yanagi's Anomaly damage become Exposed, giving all attacks against them +16% PEN Ratio, which helps teammates too. Best when Rina is on the team.
  • M6
The Shinrabanshou state lasts 30s, EX Special Attack DMG rises by 15%, and the extra thrusts go up to 4 at half the Energy cost. Her EX Special Attack becomes her top damage source; pack 2–4 thrusts into Stun windows.
M1

Know Thy Self, Know Thy EnemyRecommended

When any squad member inflicts an Anomaly on an enemy, Yanagi gains 1 stack of Clarity, lasting 15s, stacking up to 3 times. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Upon being hit by an enemy attack, Yanagi consumes 1 stack of Clarity to gain invulnerability for 1s. When Yanagi has 1 or more stacks of Clarity, her Anomaly Proficiency increases by 80.

"Having the clarity to see your enemy's weakness is like an extra safety net... and it increasing your chances at victory."

Yanagi adjusts her glasses, remaining as composed as ever, even when victory is already assured.

M2

Outstanding AdaptabilityRecommended

During her EX Special Attack, the rapid thrust's Electric Anomaly Buildup increases by 15%. Holding down the Special Attack button after a rapid thrust hits an enemy will consume 10 additional Energy to launch another thrust. If Energy is insufficient or the button is released, the attack automatically follows up with the downward attack. When the downward attack hits an enemy suffering an Anomaly and triggers Polarity Disorder, the DMG multiplier increases to 25% of the original Disorder effect. Each additional thrust increases this multiplier by 2.5%, up to a maximum of 2 extra thrusts.

"Yanagi can handle any unfamiliar environment thrown her way."

"I believe in her more than I believe in myself."

— From a martial artist practicing "the cutting of fallen leaves."

M3

Tsukishiro Style Management

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

Everyone says Section 6 is gathering oddballs and geniuses, with Tsukishiro Yanagi being the only "normal" one. But it’s precisely her presence that holds the oddballs and geniuses together.

M4

ChessmasterRecommended

When Yanagi inflicts Attribute Anomaly DMG on an enemy, they suffer the Exposed effect, lasting 15s. Attacks on enemies under the Expose effect will have 16% increased PEN Ratio.

No matter the situation, Tsukishiro Yanagi can rapidly grasp all the information at hand and make the most appropriate decision.

M5

Other Mother

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

At present, Tsukishiro Yanagi is the sole designated guardian of Soukaku.

"Soukaku, this is the Chief's riceball, you mustn't eat it... forget it, come here, I'll heat it up for you."

"We'll just buy a similar one for the Chief later."

M6

Inhuman BloodRecommended

After a thrust attack during her EX Special Attack, the duration of the Shinrabanshou state increases to 30s. While the state is active, EX Special Attack DMG increases by 15%. The maximum number of times the additional DMG multiplier increase effect for Polarity Disorder in Outstanding Adaptability can be triggered increases to 4, and the Energy cost for the first 4 additional thrust attacks is halved.

Flowing through Tsukishiro Yanagi's veins is blood that isn’t entirely her own. This blood once granted her new life in the face of despair, and with it, she gained certain special powers.

"But as you know, something that isn't mine... comes with a price."

"Hello, I'm Tsukishiro Yanagi, Deputy Chief of Section 6."

"One day, I was so hungry from working overtime that I nearly passed out, but luckily Asaba tossed me a 'lifeline,' and I managed to pull through."

"Because this 'lifeline' was actually a donut."

"That was a joke. Why aren't you laughing...?"

"Wait, Asaba probably never works overtime."

Story

Agent Profile: Tsukishiro

Tsukishiro Yanagi, Hollow Special Operations Section 6 Deputy Chief and intelligence officer. Primarily responsible for personnel management, mission management and feedback, collecting intel, on-site support, etc. At the same time, Yanagi is also Section 6 member Soukaku's Protector. Apart from taking care of Soukaku's day-to-day affairs, she is also responsible for and takes responsibility for all of Soukaku's behavior at work. Section 6 Chief Hoshimi Miyabi possesses a rather eccentric personality; Asaba Harumasa, a member of Section 6, is overly relaxed and carefree; and Soukaku, another member of Section, 6 is still an innocent and excitable child, so most of the team's work falls upon Yanagi's shoulders. Serious, diligent, and meticulous, Tsukishiro Yanagi is the only "normal" person on the team, so to speak. It is only due to her guidance and leadership that the strength of the three who make up Section 6's primary on-field force can be transformed into true combat power. Overall, Tsukishiro Yanagi is a talented and highly efficient executive officer, whose abilities are both exceptional and comprehensive. However, from certain data, Tsukishiro Yanagi appears to have a somewhat clumsy side to her when it comes to day-to-day affairs.

Cooperation Notes:

Belle

Where did Fairy even get this info? So even a perfect person like Yanagi has her clumsy moments? Got any specifics to share?

Wise

How should I put this...? From this data, it feels like Section 6 would fall apart without Yanagi.
