Best Ben Build Guide

Written by Phạm Ngọc Bảo Châu ·

Playstyle Overview

Ben is a Fire Defense Agent from Belobog Heavy Industries. His Core Passive converts 40% of his initial DEF into ATK, and the follow-up strike of his EX Special Attack: Cashflow Counter gives the whole squad a Shield. With a same-Faction or Fire teammate, his Additional Ability gives Shielded Agents 16% CRIT Rate. He also joins Koleda's coordinated attacks.

Ben has two builds. The damage build stacks CRIT and ATK and works best next to Orphie & Magus. The support build stacks DEF and Energy Regen if you need Shields up often. On the downside, he has the slowest movement speed in the game, less Daze than Stunners, and almost no presence in endgame content.

Tremor Trigram VesselS5
Tremor Trigram Vessel

ATK 624 · ATK% 25%

Pan Yinhu's signature and the most used option. It boosts EX Special Attack and Ultimate DMG, which is exactly where Ben's damage comes from. At S5 it's the best pick, but at S1 it falls behind the limited engines below. Its Energy gain only triggers when he loses HP, not on EX Special blocks.
Meridian Mapping ›

The equipper's EX Special Attack and Ultimate DMG increases by 25%. Whenever any squad member takes DMG or recovers HP, the equipper gains 2 Energy. This effects can trigger once every 5s.

2
Cloudcleave RadianceS1
Cloudcleave Radiance

ATK 743 · CRIT DMG 48%

An effective stat stick with high Base ATK and a CRIT DMG main stat. The catch is that you need plenty of CRIT Rate substats for it to shine.
Jade Soul, Frozen Heart ›

The equipper's DMG ignores 20% of the target's Physical RES. When the equipper activates an Ether Veil, the equipper's DMG increases by 25% and CRIT DMG increases by 25% for 40s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

3
Hailstorm ShrineS1
Hailstorm Shrine

ATK 743 · CRIT Rate 24%

The most balanced choice, with high Base ATK and CRIT Rate. It's easy to build around and gives solid gains.
Frost-Stained Star ›

CRIT DMG increases by 50%. When using an EX Special Attack or when any squad member applies an Attribute Anomaly to an enemy, the equipper's Ice DMG increases by 20%, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 15s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

4
Severed InnocenceS1
Severed Innocence

ATK 713 · CRIT DMG 48%

A stat stick with plenty of CRIT DMG. It's slightly behind Cloudcleave Radiance because of its lower Base ATK.
Tranquil Blossom ›

CRIT DMG is increased by 30%. When the equipper lands a hit with a Basic Attack, Special Attack, or Aftershock, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's CRIT DMG by an additional 10%, stacking up to 3 times. The effect lasts for 30s, with each stack's duration calculated separately, and can only be triggered once per use of a skill. With all 3 stacks, the equipper's Electric DMG increases by 20%.

5
Heartstring NocturneS1
Heartstring Nocturne

ATK 713 · CRIT Rate 24%

A stat stick with CRIT Rate. It's slightly behind Hailstorm Shrine because of its lower Base ATK.
String & Melody ›

CRIT DMG increases by 50%. When the equipper enters the battlefield, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the equipper's Chain Attack and Ultimate to ignore 12.5% of the target's Fire RES, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

6
Spring EmbraceS5
Spring Embrace

ATK 594 · ATK% 25%

For the Shield/support build. It reduces DMG taken and raises Energy generation when hit, and the buff carries over to the next Agent switching in. It helps Ben keep Shields up more often, but it isn't worth picking from the Battle Pass.
Hot Spring Soup ›

Reduces DMG taken by 7.5%. When attacked, the equipper's Energy Generation Rate increases by 10% for 12s. When the equipper switches off-field, this buff will be transferred to the new on-field character with its duration refreshed. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.

Very strong thanks to its huge CRIT Rate bonus, but it's niche. Even mono-Fire teams struggle to keep Burn up long enough. Only use it with strong Anomaly builders like Yuzuha or Burnice.

Only for teams with Dialyn. She turns Ben's early Chain Attack into an Ultimate to activate the buff, and his own Ultimate then extends it during Stun. Without her, the uptime is too low.

For the damage build, balance CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, then ATK. DEF still has value since his Core Passive converts part of it into ATK. For the support build, stack DEF for thicker Shields and add Energy Regen so you can use his EX Special Attack more often.

Level his Core Skill and Special Attack first. The Core improves his DEF-to-ATK conversion and his Shields, while every Special Attack variant is a main source of damage and Daze. Chain Attack/Ultimate follows closely and matters most for the damage build. Assist, Basic Attack and Dodge come last.

Best Teams for Ben

Orphie & Magus Teams

Orphie is Ben's best partner. She matches or exceeds his damage, fires constant Aftershocks and brings a strong buff. As an Attack Agent, she lets Dialyn keep her Additional Ability, and Dialyn's Chain-to-Ultimate conversion opens up Puffer Electro for Ben.
Lighter is just as competitive as Dialyn. His huge buffs and long Stun extension make rotations comfortable. Ju Fufu or Trigger are next in line, though Ju Fufu doesn't refund Decibels to Ben.

Inferno Metal Teams

Yuzuha builds Anomaly and buffs so Ben can keep 4-piece Inferno Metal active, while Lighter Stuns. It's weaker than the Orphie teams but worth it if you have good discs. Don't pair Yuzuha with Burnice.
Burnice builds Fire Anomaly and adds damage to keep Burn up for Inferno Metal, while Ju Fufu handles Stun.

Fire Stun Team

A mono-Fire team that activates all three Additional Abilities, and Ben upgrades Koleda's kit. Koleda and Ben build Daze, Ben shields the team, then Soldier 11 unloads everything once the enemy is Stunned.

Best Bangboo for Ben

For the mono-Fire team with Koleda and Soldier 11, Rocketboo is the main pick and Cryboo is the alternative. Both need at least two Fire Agents in the squad to activate their Additional Ability.

Mindscape Cinema

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M1 is the most valuable upgrade, especially against bosses. M2, M4 and M6 are only decent. M2 and M4 boost counter damage, which matters little if Ben isn't your damage dealer, while M6 helps him Stun. M3 and M5 only add skill levels and are not counted.

  • M1
When Ben successfully blocks with his Special or EX Special Attack, that enemy deals 30% less DMG for 15s. It's great against bosses.
  • M2
Block Counters deal extra DMG equal to 300% of Ben's DEF. It's useful for the damage build but unnecessary if he only supports.
  • M4
The counter after an invulnerable block deals 30% more DMG. Like M2, it isn't essential.
  • M6
After his EX Special strikes, his Basic Attack, Dash Attack and Dodge Counter Daze goes up by 20% for 12s, so Ben contributes more to Stuns.
M1

Reacting ForceRecommended

When successfully Blocking an enemy with Ben's Special Attack or EX Special Attack, the DMG dealt by the blocked enemy is reduced by 30% for 15s.

"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So why do you have to bash things head-on?"
"Looks like your calculations are off."

M2

Offense Through DefenseRecommended

When successfully triggering a Block Counter during Ben's Special Attack or EX Special Attack, inflict an additional 300% of Ben's DEF as DMG.

Unlike other bear Thirens, Ben remains patient when fighting.
He believes if he keeps his defenses up, he can wait until the enemy reveals their weakness.

M3

Careful Accounting

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack and Chain Attack Lv. +2

Financial responsibility demands mastering cost-efficiency and utilizing every available resource to enhance both the team and oneself.

M4

Agile AdaptationRecommended

When successfully blocking enemy DMG with Ben's invulnerable effect during his Special Attack or EX Special Attack, the following counter deals 30% more DMG.

Ben's professional accounting instincts let him adapt dynamically based on the situation.
Whether dealing with accounts or enemies, it's important to achieve the best results at the lowest cost.

M5

Meticulous Detail

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack and Chain Attack Lv. +2

Ben's keen eye doesn't miss a single error in statements. The same goes for combat, where he gets progressively stronger as he corrects mistakes.

M6

Wild SpiritRecommended

After launching an attack or follow-up attack during Ben's EX Special Attack, Daze inflicted by Basic Attacks, Dash Attack, and Dodge Counter is increased by 20%, lasting 12s.

"I'm kind of a math nerd, but that doesn't stop me from beating on some thugs."

"Ahem, hello, I was invited to represent Belobog Industries' management in this interview. I'm Ben Bigger. Oh... I won't eat you, there's no need to play dead."

Story

Agent File: Ben

Ben is the financial and asset management director at Belobog Heavy Industries, and one of Koleda's trusted aides.

"I enjoy mathematics, but that doesn't stop me from giving thugs a good smack."

He's a burly and strong Thiren Despite his tough exterior, he's of a surprisingly sensitive and detail-oriented nature, especially when it comes to numbers.

Originally a frontline mechanical operator at Belobog, his talents caught Koleda's discerning eye, leading to his promotion to a managerial position responsible for the company's finances.

Grateful for Koleda's trust in him, he remains profoundly loyal to her.

His favorite food is black caviar, but he dislikes fish.

I once witnessed this imposing figure seated in a small office chair, wearing small glasses, and carefully cross-referencing Belobog's asset records while mashing away at a calculator with his huge fingers.

Question: Is that what they call on Inter-Knot a "Kawaii Curveball?"

Deducing from relevant data, Ben's current outfit and style is chosen to better serve Belobog Industries rather than from his own preference.

Cooperation Notes

Belle

The first time I saw him, I was definitely taken aback...

Who would've thought Ben was unexpectedly a soft, furry, gentle-natured bear!

Wise

Never judge a book by its cover.

That said, it seems he's often required to present a menacing image to deter the enemy... and it appears to be quite effective.
