Best Yixuan Build Guide

Written by Phạm Ngọc Bảo Châu ·

Playstyle Overview

Yixuan is an Auric Ink Rupture DPS with some of the highest Sheer DMG potential in the game. All of her Auric Ink DMG is Sheer DMG, ignoring DEF and scaling with Sheer Force; every point of Max HP adds 0.1 Sheer Force, so you mostly build her around HP. Her main damage comes from EX Special Attacks and her two Ultimates.

Spending Adrenaline builds Technique Points; at 120 she casts an extra Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression. Her Ultimates also spread HP evenly across the team, which makes it very durable. The catch: Yixuan wants long field time, relies on Lucia or Stunners to fit several Ultimates into one Stun, and is weaker against passive enemies.

Best W-Engines

1
Qingming BirdcageS1
Qingming Birdcage

ATK 743 · HP 30%

The best option, and almost everyone uses it: high Base ATK, HP% and 20% CRIT Rate. On entering combat and with each EX Special Attack she gains a buff to Ether DMG and extra Sheer DMG for EX Special Attacks and Ultimates, which fits her kit perfectly.
Cloud Flow ›

CRIT Rate increases by 20%. When the equipper launches an EX Special Attack, the character gains the Qingming Companion effect, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 15s. On entering combat, immediately gain 2 stacks. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Each stack of the Qingming Companion effect increases the equipper's Ether DMG by 8%, and increases the Ultimate or EX Special Attack Ether Sheer DMG by 10%.

2
Cauldron of ClarityS5
Cauldron of Clarity

ATK 594 · HP 25%

The clear runner-up. Its effect needs an EX Special Attack every 20s, which Yixuan does constantly for Technique Points; a single Ink Manifestation combo maxes the stacks. HP%, bonus DMG and CRIT Rate also ease substat requirements.
Summoning Arcanum ›

When the equipper activates an EX Special Attack, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's DMG by 4%, up to 3 stacks, and lasting 20s. This effect can trigger once every 0.5s, and repeated triggers reset the duration. At 3 stacks, the equipper's CRIT Rate increases by 6.5%

3
Radiowave JourneyS5
Radiowave Journey

ATK 594 · HP 25%

Battle Pass W-Engine: each Chain Attack or Ultimate gives +80 Sheer Force (up to 3 stacks, 12s), fitting her Stun-focused damage. It's only barely better than Puzzle Sphere and mostly useful on Yixuan thanks to its HP stat.
Easy Strides ›

When launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate, the equipper gains 1 stack of a buff effect. Each stack increases the equipper's Sheer Force by 80, stacking up to 3 times, and lasting 12s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

4
Puzzle SphereS5
Puzzle Sphere

ATK 594 · ATK% 25%

A craftable option: CRIT DMG on EX Special Attack and extra EX Special DMG against targets below 50% HP. Noticeably weaker in Deadly Assault, but still fine for any Rupture DPS.
Ingenious Craft ›

Upon launching an EX Special Attack, the equipper's CRIT DMG increases by 16% for 12s. Additionally, if the target's current HP is below 50% of their Max HP, EX Special ATK DMG increases by 20%.

5
Kraken's CradleS1
Kraken's Cradle

ATK 713 · HP 30%

Only its main stat helps; none of its effects apply since she deals no Ice DMG and rarely drops below 50% HP thanks to her Ultimate's HP redistribution. Grill O'Wisp is similar. If you lack the options above, any W-Engine with CRIT stats works as a stopgap.
Heartfelt Caress ›

When the equipper's HP decreases, their Ice Sheer DMG increases by 6%, stacking up to 3 times and lasting 0.5 s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. This effect can trigger once every 0.5s. When the equipper's HP falls to 50% of Max HP or below, CRIT Rate increases by 20%.

HP is her core stat since it converts into Sheer Force; ATK also raises Sheer Force, so it's still useful in substats. Aim for 80–90% CRIT Rate (including the Drive Disc set bonus) and 140–160% CRIT DMG. DEF, PEN and Energy Regen are practically useless for her.

  6. ›Dodge

Level her Core Skill first since it boosts nearly all of her key attacks (Auric Array, EX Special Attacks, Chain Attack, Ultimates…). Chain Attack/Ultimate and Special Attack are her biggest damage sources, so raise them together, then Basic Attack. Assist and Dodge come last.

Best Teams for Yixuan

Most Used Teams Right Now

Yixuan's most used team in both Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault. Dialyn deals heavy Daze with little field time, raises the Stun DMG multiplier and lets Yixuan fit up to 3 Ultimates into one Stun. Lucia is the dedicated Rupture Support: huge Sheer Force, Max HP and CRIT DMG buffs plus healing.
The second most used team in both modes. Ju Fufu refunds Decibels for both of Yixuan's Ultimates, guaranteeing an Ultimate every Stun, while buffing Chain Attack/Ultimate DMG and CRIT DMG and dealing Daze from off-field.

Alternative Stun Teams

Norma deals off-field Daze, creates extra Chain Attacks and buffs team DMG; this team posts a very good average score in Deadly Assault.
Trigger raises the enemy's Stun DMG multiplier even outside of Stun, a rarely saturated buff, and provides solid Daze with little effort, although her signature W-Engine and Additional Ability go mostly unused here.

Pan Yinhu Team

Pan Yinhu is built to support Rupture DPS: Sheer DMG-focused buffs plus healing. Paired with Lucia, the team goes all-in on amplifying Yixuan's damage.

F2P Team

Anby provides Stun and Soukaku's ATK buff raises Yixuan's Sheer DMG. If you have Lucy or Pulchra, swap them in since their buffs suit Yixuan better.

Best Bangboo for Yixuan

Excaliboo is the main pick since its Additional Ability only needs a Rupture Agent, which Yixuan always covers; Devilboo, Paperboo (needs a Defense Agent), Resonaboo and Knightboo are the alternatives.

In the F2P team, use Knightboo (Soukaku meets its Support condition); Booressure or Sumoboo also work.

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M2 is the best place to stop if you're spending, thanks to its Ether RES ignore and Stun extension. M1 is also great, while M6 is the next very strong milestone. M3 and M5 only add skill levels.

  • M1
+10% CRIT Rate and an instant 120 Technique Points on entering combat for an earlier Ultimate. Teammates' hits also trigger an extra lightning strike (50% Sheer Force) that restores Adrenaline, adding off-field damage.
  • M2
Ultimates and EX Special Attacks ignore 15% Ether RES, Qingming Skyshade extends Stun by 3s, and Endless Talisman Suppression unlocks an extra EX Special Attack dealing up to 1,200% Sheer Force. That's a massive damage boost.
  • M4
Each Ultimate grants a Tranquility stack (up to 2), each adding 30% DMG to the next Cloud-Shaper and Ashen Ink Becomes Shadows.
  • M6
After Qingming Skyshade she can cast Endless Talisman Suppression once without Technique Points (once per 30s), and her Sheer DMG rises by 20% during Meditation: more Ultimates and more damage.
M1

Spiritual PathRecommended

Upon entering combat, CRIT Rate increases by 10% and immediately gain 120 Technique Points. In Investigation Zone Mode, this effect can only trigger once every 180s.

When any squad member lands a hit on an enemy, Yixuan automatically summons an extra lightning strike, dealing DMG equal to 50% of her Sheer Force and restoring 5 additional Adrenaline. This can trigger once every 6s.

"Fate is ever-changing and the path ahead uncertain. Only a pure, peaceful spirit holds firm. Even through the tides of time, I harbor no regrets."

"The mystic arts take a thousand forms, yet its core stays the same; the road may fork and falter, but the spirit stays steadfast."

"No matter the peril you face or the foe you meet, improvise as needed and face them with composure."

M2

Ward Off MisfortuneRecommended

When an Ultimate or EX Special Attack deals DMG, it ignores 15% of the target's Ether RES.

Triggering Ultimate: Qingming Skyshade extends all enemies' Stunned state by 3s. In a single Stun state duration, enemies can only have this effect applied once, and it does not stack with similar effects.

Additionally, when using Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression, gain one stack of the Condensed Ink effect

After Basic Attack: Qingming Eruption or EX Special Attack: Ashen Ink Becomes Shadows, press the Basic Attack button, or after EX Special Attack: Qingming Eruption - Break, press the Special Attack button to consume one stack of Condensed Ink and launch EX Special Attack: Endless Talisman Suppression - Break, dealing DMG up to 1,200% of Sheer Force.

Only one stack of Condensed Ink can be held at a time.

"Life's twists are unpredictable — at best, the diviner discerns but a fraction."

"Dispelling misfortune and blessing rituals are merely reading the signs to pursue gain and avoid peril."

"Once you understand how to sidestep misfortune, you can just as easily cast it upon your foe... just call forth the calamity they've yet to face."

M3

Cycle of Yin and Yang

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

"Everything in the world follows laws of mutual generation and restraint; by understanding that principle, you can balance yin and yang to overpower your foes."

"Achieving optimal results with simple techniques isn't cutting corners, but a natural result of following the flow."

M4

The One Path of MysticismRecommended

Activating an Ultimate grants one stack of Tranquility, up to a max of 2 stacks.

For each stack of Tranquility, the next EX Special Attack: Cloud-Shaper DMG and EX Special Attack: Ashen Ink Becomes Shadows DMG increase by 30%.

"It's said that countless transformations arise from a single principle. In studying the mystic arts, one must not be bound by forms but must grasp their underlying meaning."

"If you can perceive the core principles, each technique flows into another. Such is the path of the mystic: infinite forms converge into unity."

M5

Calm Sky Vigil

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

"To master the mystic arts, diligent study and reflection are but the start — you must learn to maintain a pure mind, listening to the wind and watching the clouds."

"When you transcend self and world, your command of Ether grows ever stronger, almost without effort."

"As you persist, you'll be able to maintain inner poise through any trial, meeting any change with unshakable calm."

M6

Swift Yet StillRecommended

After using Ultimate: Qingming Skyshade, gain a stack of the Regulated Breathing effect. While under this effect, you can ignore the Technique Point cost to launch Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression once. The Regulated Breathing effect ends after Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression is used. This effect can only be gained once every 30s.

Only one stack of Regulated Breathing can be held.

Additionally, while in the Meditation state, Yixuan's Sheer DMG is increased by 20%.

"Tranquility to govern force, motion and calm coexist. In every movement there lies a pause, and in every pause a potential for energy."

"At any moment, if your mind remains clear, you can meet endless change with unchanging focus — and strike for victory at just the right moment."

"Do you understand?"

"If not, that's okay... after silent contemplation, there comes that instant of awakening. This is yet another expression of 'swift yet still.'"

Story

Details

Yixuan is the 13th High Preceptor of Yunkui Summit and a Void Hunter-level investigator, officially recognized by Mayor Mayflower. She was once an orphan, wandering the world with her sister from a young age. Later, the then-High Preceptor of Yunkui Summit took them in, and they became disciples, learning the craft of Yunkui Summit. During this time, Yixuan demonstrated exceptional talent. No matter the technique, she would quickly master it, not only understanding it thoroughly but also creating her own unique techniques. The Qingming Bird was one of the special techniques she and her sister developed together, which helped her eliminate enemies and banish evil spirits in various difficult and dangerous situations.

After becoming the sect's High Preceptor, she accepted an invitation from Mayor Mayflower and joined the Hollow Investigative Association as a partnered special investigator. After becoming High Preceptor, Yixuan took in many talented disciples to continue Yunkui Summit's lineage. However, her approach is rather casual, and often, even when teaching by example, her disciples can only guess her intentions... Yet, Yixuan isn't troubled by this, as she believes there's no standard answer to the so-called "right path." What matters to her is that her disciples find their own "right path." Of course, if they can understand and learn on their own, that's even better. As their Shifu, she simply lets things unfold naturally.

Increase Trust to Close to unlock more

When Yixuan was young, she loved eating char siu buns with her sister. but after the fall of the old capital, she lost all interest in them overnight and hasn't eaten them much since. The disciples of Yunkui Summit are unaware of this, and just think their master is a bit picky. Naturally, it's best to keep this a secret. Some memories and attachments should just be left to fade away with time.

Cooperation Notes:

Belle

Shifu always seems quite laid-back, as if she doesn't have any strong attachments or opinions. Perhaps, through her travels and divinations, she's seen too many people's joys, sorrows, and struggles, and fate has taken its toll on her.

Wise

Since Shifu can do divinations and tell fortunes, many things must no longer surprise her. Every change can be predicted with precision. Perhaps that's why she remains so calm and indifferent, with no desires or demands.
