Best Nekomata Build Guide

Written by Phạm Ngọc Bảo Châu ·

Playstyle Overview

Nekomata is an S-Rank Physical Attack Agent from the Standard Banner: easy to get, yet she keeps up with many limited Agents. Her Core Passive grants 30% DMG after her Dodge Counter or Quick Assist hits.

After her Potential Unlock, all her attacks count as back attacks and she gains an enhanced Dodge Counter you can use even during Stun; her damage is packed into EX Specials, Chain Attacks, Ultimates and that counter. Dialyn is her best partner because she converts Chain Attacks into Ultimates. The downsides: she needs a lot of CRIT Rate, it's hard to save enough resources for multiple enhanced counters, and she relies on Mindscapes and W-Engine dupes.

Best W-Engines

1
Steel CushionS1
Steel Cushion

ATK 684 · CRIT Rate 24%

Her signature and the most used option: after her Potential Unlock all her attacks count as back attacks, so the full effect is always active. Its Base ATK is lower than limited engines, but the large DMG bonus keeps it on top. As a Standard engine, its effects double at S5, where it pulls far ahead.
Metal Cat Claws ›

Increases Physical DMG by 20%. The equipper's DMG increases by 25% when attacking the enemy from behind.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

2
Heartstring NocturneS1
Heartstring Nocturne

ATK 713 · CRIT Rate 24%

A stat stick with a CRIT Rate main stat and unconditional CRIT DMG. It holds up well among limited engines but still sits behind Steel Cushion.
String & Melody ›

CRIT DMG increases by 50%. When the equipper enters the battlefield, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the equipper's Chain Attack and Ultimate to ignore 12.5% of the target's Fire RES, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

3
Cordis GerminaS1
Cordis Germina

ATK 713 · CRIT Rate 24%

Its high CRIT Rate makes her much easier to build. The DEF ignore doesn't apply to Dodge Counters but is still a notable gain, and it gets better with other DEF shred sources like Nicole or M1 Sunna.
Sprouting Core ›

Increases CRIT Rate by 15%. When the equipper deals DMG with a Basic Attack or EX Special Attack, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's Electric DMG by 12.5% up to 2 stacks. Each stack lasts 40s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Can trigger once per use of a skill. At 2 stacks, the wearer's Basic Attack and Ultimate DMG ignore 20% of enemy DEF.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

4
Severed InnocenceS1
Severed Innocence

ATK 713 · CRIT DMG 48%

A stat stick packed with CRIT DMG; it needs occasional Special Attacks to keep stacks, but the long duration makes that easy.
Tranquil Blossom ›

CRIT DMG is increased by 30%. When the equipper lands a hit with a Basic Attack, Special Attack, or Aftershock, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's CRIT DMG by an additional 10%, stacking up to 3 times. The effect lasts for 30s, with each stack's duration calculated separately, and can only be triggered once per use of a skill. With all 3 stacks, the equipper's Electric DMG increases by 20%.

5
Starlight EngineS5
Starlight Engine

ATK 594 · ATK% 25%

The best A-Rank pick: its ATK buff after Dodge Counters can stay up almost the whole fight, since she can Dodge Counter even during Stun. If you plan to use her enhanced counter late, activate the buff before the Stun starts.
Knight Plummel ›

Launching an Assist Attack increases the equipper's ATK by 12% for 12s.

Nekomata needs a lot of CRIT Rate, with substats worth stacking up to 100%, so Disc 4 is almost always CRIT Rate. Then balance CRIT DMG with ATK; on Disc 5, PEN Ratio is the top choice.

  1. Core Skill
  2. ›Dodge
  3. ›Chain Attack
  4. ›Basic Attack
  5. ›Special Attack
  6. ›Assist

Her Core Skill raises the DMG buff after Dodge Counters or Quick Assists, so max it early. Dodge (including Dodge Counters) and Chain Attack/Ultimate are her main burst sources, followed by Basic Attack and Special Attack. Assist comes last.

Best Teams for Nekomata

Most Used Teams Right Now

Nekomata's most used and highest-scoring Deadly Assault team. Dialyn, a fellow Physical Agent, enables her Additional Ability and converts Chain Attacks into Ultimates for more burst; Sunna brings strong buffs, extra Physical DMG and a higher Stun DMG Multiplier.
Her most used Shiyu Defense team: Astra Yao's buffs are high-value and easy to manage, and her Ultimate helps Nekomata gain resources for more enhanced Dodge Counters.

Alternative Teams

Norma replaces Dialyn as the Stunner and posts a high average score in Deadly Assault; Sunna can also replace Astra Yao.
Zhao takes the Support slot with team-wide ATK and DMG buffs; this team also scores well in Deadly Assault.

Seed Team

After her Potential Unlock, Nekomata is a strong Vanguard for Seed: her new Dodge Counter is fast, hits hard and slots neatly into Seed's attack sequence, while Seed's buffs are very valuable.

F2P Team

A free team from the Cunning Hares, so all three Additional Abilities are active: Anby Stuns and Shocks, while Nicole shreds DEF and groups enemies.

Best Bangboo for Nekomata

With Dialyn and Sunna, Bangvolver is the main pick (needs two Physical Agents); otherwise use Sumoboo, Exploreboo, Luckyboo, Amillion or Avocaboo. Amillion only activates its Additional Ability with two or more Cunning Hares members.

In the F2P team with Anby and Nicole, Avocaboo heals the whole squad; Bagboo and Exploreboo also work.

Mindscape Cinema

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M1 is the best stopping point: it ignores Physical RES and turns every hit on a Stunned enemy into a back attack. M6 is also very strong, since it stacks a lot of CRIT DMG. The gap between M0 and M6 (with an S5 W-Engine) is sizable. M2 and M4 are decent; M3 and M5 only add skill levels and are not counted.

  • M1
Back attacks ignore 16% Physical RES, and against Stunned enemies every hit counts as a back attack.
  • M2
With a single enemy on the field and Nekomata in combat, her Energy Generation Rate rises by 25%, enabling more EX Specials.
  • M4
EX Specials grant 7% CRIT Rate for 15s, stacking twice, easing her CRIT requirements.
  • M6
Chain Attacks or Ultimates grant 18% CRIT DMG, stacking 3 times for the whole fight (instantly maxed on defeating an enemy), a huge damage boost.
M1

Bird HunterRecommended

When Nekomata hits an enemy from behind, she ignores 16% of her target's Physical RES.

If the enemy is Stunned, all Nekomata's attacks are considered back attacks.

While Nekomata lacks strength due to her small size, she has the perceptiveness and agility required to locate her enemies' weaknesses and strike right where it hurts most.

M2

Cat & MouseRecommended

When there's only one enemy on the field and Nekomata is in combat, her Energy Generation Rate is increased by 25%.

Cats always prefer to toy with their prey.

If there's only one mouse left in combat — that's Nekomata's play time.

M3

Curious Left Tail

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

According to the legends of the old civilization, each tail represents one of a cat's many lives, with years of wisdom and experience stored within...

Even if that's not true, the experience Nekomata has gained on the streets certainly is.

M4

Sharpen ClawsRecommended

When Nekomata uses her EX Special Attack, her CRIT Rate increases by 7% for 15s, stacking up to 2 times, with each stack's duration being calculated separately.

"Gimme more, gimme MORE! I can eat 'em all~"

Her eyes sparkle as she licks the back of her paws.

M5

Lucky Right Tail

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

According to the legends of the old civilization, each tail represents one of a cat's many lives, with years of wisdom and experience stored within... Sometimes Nekomata wonders to herself: If she is lucky enough to keep surviving, will she eventually grow another tail?

M6

Predator LineageRecommended

When Nekomata launches a Chain Attack or uses her Ultimate, her CRIT DMG increases by 18%, stacking up to 3 times. The effect expires when she's no longer in-combat. This effect gains maximum stacks immediately on defeating an enemy.

Fortunately, these tendencies aren't permanent..."

Story

Details

Nekomiya Mana. Refers to herself as "Nekomata."

A cat Thiren with feline traits, possessing great dexterity when hunting and an insatiable curiosity about the outside world.

Sometimes mischievous, she engages in harmless pranks. But when she sets her sights on a target, her feline-like agility and focus are enough to leave others in awe.

She's most interested in other people's wallets.

Recommendation: Always keep an eye on your wallet when Nekomata is around.

In the past, Nekomata was a member of the long-standing Red Fang Gang. Its leader, Miguel Silver, took on a fatherly role in her life.

Nonetheless, due to differing beliefs from the gang, she opted to part ways and go it alone.

Following certain encounters involving Nicole and others, she eventually opted to enlist in Gentle House, thus becoming the third member of the team.

Increase Trust to Close to unlock more

Additional Note: Within the Gentle House, Nekomata seems to hold a significant interest in Nicole, much to Anby's displeasure. The likely reason for this could be summed up as: "I was here first..."

Cooperation Notes:

Belle

Kitty cat! Who doesn't like kitty cats!

Ohhh, I want to touch Nekomata's tails! She's got two, that's double the fun!

Take it easy... She's not some harmless little kitten on the street in New Eridu...

When dealing with Nekomata, the most important thing is keeping an eye on your wallet...

Bình tĩnh một chút... Đây không phải là một chú mèo con dễ thương và vô hại trên đường phố New Eridu...

Nhưng khi đối mặt với Nekomata, điều quan trọng nhất là phải bảo vệ ví tiền của mình...
