Playstyle Overview

Ellen is an Ice Attack DPS with high, easy-to-access damage. Her gameplay revolves around Flash Freeze Charges (up to 6): you build them with Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush and EX Special Attacks, then spend them on Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming. Her Core Passive greatly raises the CRIT DMG of these attacks, and after her Potential is activated it also applies to her Chain Attack and Ultimate.

She moves fast, has plenty of invulnerability and strong AoE, and can group small enemies. Build CRIT (especially CRIT DMG) and PEN Ratio. The downside is that her combo-heavy on-field playstyle is harder to pilot than most DPS, and her lengthy Chain Attack makes it hard to fit all her key skills into one Stun window.

Increases Ice DMG by 25%. Upon hitting an enemy with a Basic Attack, the equipper's CRIT Rate increases by 10% for 8s. When dealing Ice DMG with a Dash Attack, the equipper's CRIT Rate increases by an additional 10% for 15s. The duration of each effect is calculated separately.

Myriad Eclipse

ATK 713 · CRIT Rate 24%

Neck and neck with her signature and sometimes ahead: it ignores 25% DEF for 3s after any Ice DMG EX Special Attack, Chain Attack or Ultimate hit, which is easy to maintain during Stun. The CRIT DMG is somewhat saturated on Ellen, but it's still very strong and easy to manage.

False Personas ›

Increases CRIT DMG by 45%. When using an EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate to deal Ice DMG, the equipper gains the Absolute Zero Death Sentence effect for 3s. While Absolute Zero Death Sentence is active, the character ignores 25% of the enemy's DEF when landing a hit.

Its CRIT Rate is only about 5% behind Deep Sea Visitor, and its DEF ignore applies to Basic Attacks and her Ultimate, her two main damage sources, with near-permanent uptime and no effort.

Increases CRIT Rate by 15%. When the equipper deals DMG with a Basic Attack or EX Special Attack, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's Electric DMG by 12.5% up to 2 stacks. Each stack lasts 40s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Can trigger once per use of a skill. At 2 stacks, the wearer's Basic Attack and Ultimate DMG ignore 20% of enemy DEF.

The best generic CRIT stat-stick for Attack Agents, offering lots of CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. CRIT DMG can be saturated on Ellen, but the raw stats keep it competitive.

String & Melody ›

CRIT DMG increases by 50%. When the equipper enters the battlefield, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the equipper's Chain Attack and Ultimate to ignore 12.5% of the target's Fire RES, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

It has a good CRIT Rate main stat, but the 25% DMG bonus for hitting from behind is very hard to use given how Ellen dashes into her attacks, so in practice it's little more than a CRIT Rate stat-stick.

The best choice without Dialyn: EX Special Attacks woven between Basic Attacks keep its ATK stacks up fairly consistently. Outside Stun, forcing Dodge Counters just for stacks can make your rotation less efficient.

For each stack, the equipper's ATK increases by 4%, and CRIT Rate increases by 4%. The effect can stack up to 3 times and lasts for 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

Aim for 90–100% CRIT Rate; her signature and in-combat effects supply a lot of it, so Disc 4 is usually CRIT DMG. Because DMG% bonuses saturate easily, a PEN Ratio Disc 5 is preferred over Ice DMG.

Her second most used Deadly Assault team: Ellen already has a lot of CRIT DMG, so Sunna's raw ATK and Stun DMG multiplier are less saturated than other premium Supports' buffs.

After Dialyn, Lighter is Ellen's best Stunner: Ice DMG, Ice RES shred, strong Daze and a Stun extension. Astra Yao raises CRIT DMG and enables a Quick Assist playstyle that speeds up Ellen's Dash Attacks. Lycaon, Trigger or Qingyi can replace Lighter.

Soukaku is Ellen's best free Support thanks to her ATK and Ice DMG buffs, while Anby is the free Stun option.

Best Bangboo for Ellen

In the premium team, Knightboo (needs a Support) is the main pick, with Butler (needs two Victoria Housekeeping members), Sharkboo or Penguinboo as alternatives.

In the F2P team, Penguinboo uses the 2+ Ice Agents to build much more Ice Anomaly; Bagboo, Booressure and Avocaboo also work.

Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush

While in the Roaming state, press Basic to activate:

Delivers a spinning slash to enemies before opening her scissors for a Swift Scissors strike, dealing Ice DMG.

Gain 1 point of Flash Freeze Charge when the Swift Scissors strike hits.

While in the Roaming state, hold Basic to activate:

Perform a spinning slash against the enemy, then pull apart the scissors to unleash a Charged Scissors strike, dealing massive Ice DMG.

Gain 3 points of Flash Freeze Charge when the Charged Scissors strike hits. If the enemy is Frozen, it always triggers Shatter.

Anti-Interrupt level is increased while charging the skill, and DMG taken is reduced by 40%.

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M1 and M2 are the most valuable upgrades: M1 makes Ellen much easier to play and M2 greatly boosts her EX Special Attack damage. M6 adds a lot more damage, while M4 mainly helps in mono-Ice teams. M3 and M5 only add skill levels and are not counted.

M1
Swift Scissors grants 3 and Charged Scissors 6 Flash Freeze Charges; each charge spent adds 2% CRIT Rate (up to 6 stacks). Faster charge gain makes her rotation much smoother.
M2
The 3rd hit of Flash Freeze Trimming chains straight into EX Special Attack: Sharknami, and EX Special Attacks gain 20% CRIT DMG per Flash Freeze Charge held (up to 60%).
M4
When a teammate Freezes or Stuns an enemy, Ellen gains 6 Flash Freeze Charges, Quick Charge and 4 Energy; especially useful in mono-Ice teams.
M6
EX Special Attacks, Chain Attacks or Quick Charge grant 20% PEN Ratio and a Feast stack; at 3 stacks, the next Charged Scissors strike deals 250% more damage.

Glacial OmenRecommended

Upon hitting an enemy with Swift Scissors during Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush, the obtained Flash Freeze Charges are increased to 3.

Upon hitting an enemy with Charged Scissor Strike during Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush, the obtained Flash Freeze Charges are increased to 6.

For each point of Flash Freeze Charge consumed, Ellen’s CRIT Rate is increased by 2% for 15s, stacking up to 6 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Chilling winds are an omen of winter, and a signal that Ellen is about to apply for extended leave to hibernate.

The 3rd hit of Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming can be directly followed up with EX Special Attack: Sharknami.
When using an EX Special Attack, each Flash Freeze Charge increases the current attack's CRIT DMG by 20%, up to a maximum of 60%.

Despite being freshly stained with red, the massive shears held by Ellen lacked any trace of warmth.
The icy cold stems from her iron-forged instrument, as well as the fear of facing a predator such as herself.

Overtime-Intolerant

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

The whole point of "efficiency" is being able to go home early and sleep.
So strike harder and strike faster.

Endless HoarfrostRecommended

Whenever a squad member Freezes or Stuns an enemy, Ellen gains 6 Flash Freeze Charges and the Quick Charge effect. She also recovers 4 Energy. The Energy recovery effect can trigger once per 10s.

A relentless assault of piercing cold. Terrifying monstrosities will learn the beauty and cruelty of winter under Ellen's blade.
But, actually, the endless work that maids have during holidays is far more cruel...

Adequate Sleep

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv.+2

Except for when in the toughest of battles, Ellen always seems to have that "I can fall asleep at any moment" look.
Many an enemy has met their demise after underestimating Ellen because of it.

The Feast BeginsRecommended

When Ellen uses an EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or gains Quick Charge, her PEN Ratio increases by 20% for 6s. She also gains 1 stack of The Feast Begins, up to a maximum of 3 stacks. With 3 stacks of The Feast Begins, using a Charged Scissors strike during Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush consumes all stacks, increasing the DMG of the current attack by 250%.
