Best Lycaon Build Guide

Written by Phạm Ngọc Bảo Châu ·

Playstyle Overview

Lycaon is a standard-banner Ice Stun Agent who is easy to build and works with many W-Engines. He builds Daze quickly, needs little field time and has cheap EX Special Attacks. When his EX Special Attack or Assist Follow-Up hits, the target's Ice RES drops by 25% for 30s, and his Additional Ability (with a teammate of the same attribute or faction) raises the Stun DMG Multiplier by 35% whenever he hits a Stunned enemy.

Build Impact (Disc 6) plus at least 50% CRIT Rate if you use King of the Summit. On the downside, he only truly shines in Ice teams, loses much of his value if he doesn't start the Stun himself, and offers nothing beyond buffs and Daze.

Best W-Engines

1
Blazing LaurelS1
Blazing Laurel

ATK 713 · Impact 18%

The best option by a clear margin: a huge Impact bonus that triggers on Defensive Assists leading into Assist Follow-Ups (Lycaon's main Daze source), plus a team-wide Ice and Fire CRIT DMG buff that's easy to maintain.
Flowing Flame ›

Upon launching a Quick Assist or Perfect Assist, the equipper's Impact increases by 25% for 8s. When the equipper launches and hits an enemy with a Basic Attack, apply Wilt to the target for 30s, stacking up to 20 times, repeated triggers reset the duration. When any squad member hits an enemy, for every stack of Wilt applied to the target, the CRIT DMG of the Ice DMG and Fire DMG dealt by that attack increases by 1.5%. Only one of this effect can be active at a time in the same squad.

2
Precious Fossilized CoreS5
Precious Fossilized Core

ATK 594 · Impact 15%

An accessible A-Rank option that adds a lot of Daze, strongest early in fights while enemies are at high HP, helping you hit Stun breakpoints sooner.
Behemoth Hunter ›

When the target's HP is no lower than 50%, the equipper inflicts 10% more Daze to the target. When the target's HP is no lower than 75%, this bonus is further increased by 10%.

3
Steam OvenS5
Steam Oven

ATK 594 · Energy Regen 50%

Needs active Energy management to get full Impact, but its Energy Regen main stat sustains constant EX Special Attacks (his main source of Daze, Anomaly and Decibels, and what keeps King of the Summit up). The best non-limited pick when played well.
Thick Broth ›

For every 10 Energy accumulated, the equipper's Impact increases by 2%, stacking up to 8 times. After Energy is consumed, this bonus remains for 8 more seconds. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

4
Hellfire GearsS1
Hellfire Gears

ATK 684 · Impact 18%

Competitive Impact with easy stack upkeep thanks to Lycaon's cheap EX Special Attacks, but its off-field Energy Regen contributes little. It usually falls behind Steam Oven in both Daze and sustain.
Passionate Construction ›

While off-field, the equipper's Energy Regen increases by 0.6/s.

When using an EX Special Attack, the equipper's Impact is increased by 10% for 10s, stacking up to 2 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

5
The RestrainedS1
The Restrained

ATK 684 · Impact 18%

His signature and widely used, yet the weakest option here: its Daze bonus only applies to Basic Attacks, while most of Lycaon's Daze comes from Defensive Assists, Assist Follow-Ups and EX Special Attacks; its stacks are also short and timed separately.
Binding Chains ›

When an attack hits an enemy, DMG and Daze from Basic Attacks increase by 6% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. This effect can trigger at most once during each skill. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

*Stats shown are at Base level.

6
Ice-Jade TeapotS1
Ice-Jade Teapot

ATK 713 · Impact 18%

An alternative: Basic Attacks stack Impact, and at 15+ stacks the whole squad gains a DMG bonus.
Ringing Melody ›

When a Basic Attack hits an enemy, gain 1 stack of Tea-riffic. Each stack of Tea-riffic increases the user’s Impact by 0.7%, stacking up to 30 times, and lasting for 8s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. Upon acquiring Tea-riffic, if the equipper possesses stacks of Tea-riffic greater than or equal to 15, all squad members’ DMG is increased by 20% for 10s.

Passive effects of the same name do not stack.

4
King of the Summit
4-pc ›
2-piece:

Increases Daze of attacks by 6%

4-piece:

When the equipper is a Stun character and uses an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack, increases CRIT DMG of all squad members by 15%, and when the equipper's CRIT Rate is more than or equal to 50%, further increases CRIT DMG by 15%, lasting 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.

2
Shockstar Disco
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Impact +6%

The best Stun set today: EX Special Attacks and Chain Attacks give the squad up to 30% CRIT DMG when Lycaon has 50%+ CRIT Rate, and his cheap EX Specials keep it up almost permanently. Swap 2-piece Shockstar Disco for Swing Jazz if you need more Energy.
2
4
Astral Voice
4-pc ›
2-piece:

ATK +10%

4-piece:

Whenever any squad member enters the field using a Quick Assist, all squad members gain 1 stack of Astral, up to a maximum of 3 stacks, and lasting 15s. Repeated triggers reset the duration. Each stack of Astral increases the DMG dealt by the character entering the field using a Quick Assist by 8%. Only one of this effect can be active at a time in the same squad.

2
King of the Summit
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Increases Daze of attacks by 6%

The top pick for Armorer teams like Claret's, as it's one of the few Stun sets that actually works with them. The buff often gets used before Stun, so teammates (such as Supports) need to help keep the stacks up.
3
4
Proto Punk
4-pc ›
2-piece:

Increases Shield effect by 15%.

4-piece:

When any squad member triggers a Defensive Assist or Evasive Assist, all squad members deal 15% increased DMG, lasting 10s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.

2
King of the Summit
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Increases Daze of attacks by 6%

A niche set: 15% squad DMG for 10s after a Defensive or Evasive Assist. Use it when someone else already carries Astral Voice and you're confident timing assists; otherwise 4-piece Swing Jazz is more reliable.
4
4
Shockstar Disco
4-pc ›
2-piece:

Impact +6%

4-piece:

Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters inflict 20% more Daze to the main target.

2
Swing Jazz
2-pc ›
2-piece:

Energy Regen increases +20%

Gives the highest Daze, with 2-piece Swing Jazz for more frequent EX Special Attacks. However, the extra Daze over the 2-piece is small, so it's only worth it when it earns you an additional Stun.

An Impact Disc 6 is mandatory, aiming for about 169–190+. With King of the Summit, you need at least 50% CRIT Rate to unlock its extra squad CRIT DMG. Energy Regen is also worthwhile for frequent EX Special Attacks; ATK and CRIT DMG are optional.

Skill Priority

  1. Special Attack
  2. ›Core Skill
  3. ›Assist
  4. ›Chain Attack
  5. ›Basic Attack
  6. ›Dodge

His EX Special Attack is his main source of Daze, Energy and Decibels, so level Special Attack first. Core Skill boosts the Daze of his charged Basic Attack, and Assist is valuable because Defensive Assists and Assist Follow-Ups deal a lot of Daze. Chain Attack/Ultimate also adds big Daze; Basic Attack depends on your playstyle, and Dodge comes last.

Best Teams for Lycaon

Most Used Teams Right Now

Lycaon's most used team in both Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault. Lycaon and Rina share a faction and activate each other's Additional Abilities, forming a strong, accessible Stun + Support pair for most DPS; with Claret, Lycaon should run Astral Voice.
His second most used team in both modes. Lycaon is Yidhari's ideal partner, even over limited Stunners: his quick-swap style leaves her the field, his Ice RES shred boosts her damage, and her combos make it easy for Lycaon to be the one who starts the Stun.

Ice Teams

Lycaon provides lots of Daze, a higher Stun DMG Multiplier and Ice RES shred for Ellen; together with Astra Yao's buffs, Ellen's damage rises sharply.
Seen in both Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault: Sigrid is an Ice DPS, so she gets full value from Lycaon's Ice RES shred and Stun DMG Multiplier.
Soukaku and Lycaon amplify each other: both shred Ice RES, and Soukaku adds Ice DMG and heavy Ice Anomaly buildup, making a very strong Ice team for Miyabi.

Double Stun Team

Hugo wants two Stunners, and Lycaon is both a Stunner and an Ice Agent. Lighter speeds up Stuns, adds Ice DMG and shreds Ice RES; Lycaon can also hold the field reliably, helping Hugo keep Hormone Punk up, Freezing more often and keeping King of the Summit up with his cheap EX Specials.

F2P Team

Corin's Additional Ability needs a Physical or Victoria Housekeeping teammate, and Lycaon fulfils it while also Stunning and raising the Stun DMG Multiplier. Soukaku passes her ATK buff to Corin.

Best Bangboo for Lycaon

In the Ice team with Ellen, use Sharkboo (with 2+ Ice Agents its Chain Attack builds much more Anomaly), or Butler (needs two Victoria Housekeeping members), Bagboo or Penguinboo. The double Stun team with Hugo uses Robin (needs a Mockingbird member), with Sharkboo or Penguinboo as replacements.

The Rupture team with Yidhari and Lucia uses Miss Esme (needs two Spook Shack members), or Booressure, Sumoboo, Exploreboo or Knightboo instead. In the F2P team, Penguinboo is the main pick, with Bagboo, Sumoboo or Avocaboo as alternatives.

Mindscape Cinema

Which Mindscapes Are Worth It?

M1 is the most valuable upgrade and a sensible stopping point, significantly improving his Stun output. M2 and M6 are decent; M4 barely changes his kit. M3 and M5 only add skill levels and are not counted.

  • M1
EX Special Attack hits deal 12% more Daze (once every 8s), plus another 10% when fully charged, making his already strong Stun output even better.
  • M2
Recovers 5 Energy when Stunning an enemy or triggering a teammate's Chain Attack, letting him use EX Special Attacks more often.
  • M6
Charged attacks make the target take 10% more DMG from Lycaon (up to 5 stacks). It raises his personal damage but isn't really needed on a Stun Agent.
M1

Full Moon MomentumRecommended

When Lycaon's EX Special Attack hits an enemy, the attack's Daze increases by 12%. This effect can trigger once every 8s. When he charges his EX Special Attack to completion, this buff will increase by an additional 10%.

Records suggest that werewolves exposed to moonlight become significantly more aggressive.

"Don't stare directly at the moon."

M2

Energy FeedbackRecommended

When Stunning an enemy or triggering a squad member's Chain Attack, Lycaon gains 5 Energy. Can trigger once every 1s.

"Canines receive a brief dopamine boost in their brains after completing semi-complex tasks. At that moment, if their owner pets them to show encouragement, they will be extremely happy..."

—Excerpt from the "Handbook of Unreliable Canine Research"

M3

Attendant Training

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

His every gesture exudes poise, and his words and actions are as refreshing as a spring breeze. An attendant's training is about maintaining control over everything.

M4

Graceful Demeanor

If Lycaon is attacked while using a Basic Attack or Special Attack, he will immediately gain a Shield equal to 7.5% of his Max HP, lasting for 15s. During the Shield's duration, his Anti-Interrupt level is increased. This effect can trigger once every 15s.

An outstanding attendant maintains a graceful demeanor at any and all times.

M5

Alpha Nature

Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2

His glance harbors a primal ferocity, and the echoes of his howls rumble within his throat. Regardless of his current gracefulness, underneath the formal wear, he's still untamed.

M6

Ruthless HunterRecommended

When a charged attack hits an enemy, the target suffers 10% increased DMG from Lycaon, stacking up to 5 times and lasting 12s. Only one stack can be gained per skill use, and repeated triggers reset the duration.

"Apologies, but given the circumstances, I will not show any mercy."

"After all, if a fair fight is what you are after, a Hollow is not the place to look for it."

"Your personal attendant Lycaon, at your service."

Do you need a personal attendant?

Wait! Before you say "No" without thinking, lemme finish!

I'm not talking about an ordinary attendant, I'm talking about the kind of professionals you see described in a dictionary when you look up the word "attendant"! These rational, reliable elites will serve you as if you are royalty and follow you to the edge of the world (during the contract period, of course). With their help, you'll be able to focus on being a better person, free of worldly worries... That's the kind of attendant I'm talking about!

Ohh? You're interested? That's great!

Oh by the way, you won't mind that he's covered in fur, has sharp teeth, fuzzy ears, and a fluffy tail, right?

Great~ Now lemme introduce to you this outstanding attendant from Victoria Housekeeping Co. — Lycaon.

Story

Agent Profile: Lycaon

Lycaon, the substantive leader and representative of Victoria Housekeeping Co., is responsible for managing all members of the company.

Rational and reliable, Lycaon is an elegant gentleman and a versatile attendant who can solve any problem. He is the cornerstone of his team and a reassuring presence.

He has a slight obsession with cleanliness, always tidying up his surroundings and unable to tolerate dirty environments.

Although Lycaon maintains his elegance and composure, his canine instincts occasionally shine through. When he is particularly happy, his tail and ears unconsciously wag. He seems to be aware of this habit and somewhat bothered by it.

Additionally, like most furry Thiren, Lycaon takes great care of his fur.

Suggestion: Since Lycaon is a canine Thiren, stroking his head or chin may enhance the emotional connections between you. (Note: Success is not guaranteed.)

* Risks: Due to his height, you may not be able to do this even if you stand on tiptoes.

Increase Trust to Close to unlock more

Lycaon has a troubled past that he keeps to himself.

Despite his current elegant and gentle demeanor, the former Lycaon led a wild lifestyle and had a friend whom he trusted implicitly.

However, this friend has now become a bitter enemy.

Note: Due to limited information, it is challenging to uncover the specifics of his past.

You should consider trying to gather information from different angles about the individuals involved to obtain more valuable intelligence.

Cooperation Notes

Belle

Is there truly anything in this world that poses a challenge for Lycaon? It seems that no matter what obstacles he encounters, he effortlessly solves them all (as long as you touch his tail)!

Wise

Belle, did your comment get mixed up with your personal preferences? And Fairy suggested touching Lycaon's chin and head, not his tail.

Ghi Chú Hợp Tác

Belle
